Three New Underpasses on NH-48 to Accelerate Growth in Punawale-Tathawade Belt

Major Infrastructure Push for Punawale-Tathawade Belt as Centre Clears Three New NH-48 Underpasses

The approval of three new underpasses on NH-48, along with the widening of existing underpasses and expedited service road development, marks a major milestone for Pune’s western growth corridor. The move is expected to significantly ease congestion across rapidly developing localities such as Punawale and Tathawade, which have witnessed substantial residential and commercial expansion in recent years. Improved cross-connectivity and smoother traffic flow will not only reduce commute times but also enhance the overall livability of these micro-markets.

The infrastructure upgrade comes at a crucial time when homebuyer demand continues to shift towards well-connected suburban destinations offering a blend of affordability, social infrastructure and accessibility. By strengthening the transportation network, the project is expected to unlock further growth potential, support economic activity and reinforce the region’s position as one of Pune’s most sought-after real estate destinations.

Commenting on the development, Vishal Jumani, Managing Director, Supreme Universal, said, “This is a highly impactful and much-needed decision that will create long-term value for both residents and businesses across Pune’s western corridor. Connectivity is one of the strongest drivers of urban growth, and the approval of these underpasses, coupled with service road enhancements. The addition of three new underpasses, along with the widening of existing ones, will significantly ease traffic movement, improve cross-connectivity and create a more efficient transportation network across the corridor. The improved infrastructure will enhance commuter convenience, strengthen access between key neighbourhoods and further boost the attractiveness of locations such as Punawale and Tathawade for homebuyers and investors.

Such infrastructure-led improvements also strengthen the appeal of emerging residential destinations like Punawale, where demand continues to be driven by a combination of connectivity, lifestyle and long-term growth potential. We believe these upgrades will further accelerate the area’s growth and support demand for quality developments such as our recently launched Supreme Rivana, a 12.6-acre riverside gated community in Punawale. Enhanced connectivity, combined with the region’s evolving social infrastructure, will continue to create long-term value for both homebuyers and investors. We commend the government’s proactive approach towards creating infrastructure that keeps pace with the city’s growth aspirations.”
