IGP Jammu Zone, DIG Udhampur–Reasi Review Crime and Security Preparedness

Focus on quality investigations, anti-drug drive, and strengthening response systems

Jammu, April 27 (H.S.): A Crime-Cum-Security Review Meeting was held at the Range Police Headquarters in Udhampur on Sunday under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Udhampur–Reasi Range, SSP Udhampur, and other senior supervisory officers of the district.

The meeting focused on improving the quality of investigations, particularly in special reported cases, along with a comprehensive review of key policing and security matters. Discussions also covered the implementation of the Nasha Mukht Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, the functioning of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), the overall crime scenario, and the prevailing security situation in the district.

Focus on Professional Policing

While reviewing investigative practices, the IGP emphasized the importance of maintaining professional standards. He directed supervisory officers, especially Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), to personally visit crime scenes and ensure that investigations are conducted in a thorough, impartial, and time-bound manner. He noted that high-quality investigations are essential for strengthening the justice delivery system and enhancing public trust.

Strengthening Coordination

The DIG Udhampur–Reasi Range highlighted the need for strong supervision, accountability, and coordination among field units to effectively tackle emerging challenges. Officers were encouraged to adopt proactive strategies and make optimal use of technology-driven systems such as ERSS to improve response mechanisms and service delivery.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the police department’s commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and upholding high standards of policing across the Jammu Zone.
