Security forces foil infiltration bid in forward area; search operation underway

Jammu, 12 May (H.S.): A Pakistani terrorist affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit was killed on Tuesday during an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district while attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control (LoC).

According to official sources, the terrorist was part of a Lashkar group trying to infiltrate into Indian territory when alert troops detected suspicious movement in a forward area along the LoC.
The infiltration attempt led to a brief but intense exchange of fire between the infiltrators and security personnel. During the gunfight, one Pakistani terrorist was neutralised by the security forces.
Following the encounter, security agencies launched extensive search and sanitisation operations in the surrounding area to trace any possible accomplices who may have managed to escape during the firing.
Officials said security forces remain on high alert across the LoC due to a recent rise in infiltration attempts from across the border.
The identity of the slain terrorist and further details regarding the operation are awaited.
