Party warns of agitation if gas supply issues are not resolved quickly

Prayagraj, 12 May (H.S.): Pragatisheel Samaj Party (PSP) National President Engineer Sunil Kushwaha on Monday termed the ongoing LPG gas shortage in Prayagraj a matter of serious concern and demanded immediate intervention from the district administration to provide relief to students affected by the crisis.

Kushwaha warned that if prompt arrangements are not made to restore smooth gas supply, the party would be forced to launch a movement in the interest of students preparing for competitive examinations in the city.

According to PSP leaders, Kushwaha spoke with the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Civil Supply over the phone and urged authorities to ensure uninterrupted availability of domestic LPG cylinders. He also demanded the establishment of authorised refill centres in different localities for small cylinders commonly used by students.

The PSP chief questioned the government’s claims that there is no LPG shortage, alleging that the ground reality in Prayagraj paints a completely different picture.

“Prayagraj is one of the country’s biggest educational hubs where lakhs of students live while preparing for competitive exams. Many students manage their daily needs using small cylinders filled with 2 to 3 kilograms of gas,” Kushwaha said.

He alleged that despite bookings, domestic LPG cylinders are not being supplied on time, while commercial cylinders have virtually disappeared from the market. In addition, local shopkeepers who previously refilled small cylinders have reportedly stopped providing the service due to supply shortages.

Kushwaha said the situation has created severe hardship for students, many of whom are now being forced to spend extra money on hotel food or consider returning to their hometowns, affecting both their studies and financial stability.

He urged the administration to take immediate corrective steps to ensure that students do not suffer during a crucial academic period.
