Police action under POCSO Act targets alleged sexual exploitation network
Pune, April 27 (H.S.): Pune Police arrested three women from Bangladesh in Budhwar Peth and sealed four premises allegedly operating as prostitution dens during a crackdown in the area.
According to officials, the action was carried out by the Faraskhana Police Station under the direction of Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme led the operation.
A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, after authorities found that the premises were allegedly being used for the sexual exploitation of minor girls.
Police also stated that the arrested women were residing in the area illegally. The identified locations have been sealed to prevent further unlawful activities.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to identify other individuals involved in the network and to determine the extent of the alleged operations. Further legal action is expected based on the findings.
