Police say accused was absconding for nearly a month and was tracked through digital surveillance

Nashik, 08 May (HS): Nida Khan, the prime accused in the Nashik TCS sexual abuse and alleged religious conversion case, has been remanded to four days of police custody after being arrested on Thursday evening and produced before the court on Friday.

According to police officials, Nida Khan had been absconding for nearly a month before her arrest.

Investigators alleged that Nashik corporator Matin Majid Patel provided shelter to the accused while she was evading arrest. Police personnel in plain clothes had reportedly been monitoring the area before apprehending Khan while she was travelling in vehicles without number plates.

Police sources stated that digital records and phone tracking revealed that the accused had travelled to several locations including Nashik, Bhiwandi, Mumbra, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar during the period she remained absconding.

Officials believe the seized mobile phone could provide crucial evidence and further leads in the ongoing investigation.

The court proceedings were conducted in-camera for security reasons, while heavy police deployment was maintained outside the court premises.

Nida Khan’s anticipatory bail plea, filed on the grounds of pregnancy, was rejected by the court.

Meanwhile, corporator Matin Patel has also been booked by police for allegedly helping the accused evade arrest in the case.

Further investigation is underway.
